Designing an intuitive way to set up cleaning routines

People think about cleaning by room, not by robot. So we built routine setup around the home map, pushing usability from 84 to 87 SUS, crossing the "excellent" benchmark and bridging the gap from smart robot to smart home.

Freeing Roomba users from floorcare

Roomba's first predictive cleaning feature taught the robot to decide which rooms needed attention with no user input required. It also taught us that users trusted the intelligence more when we showed them less of it, a principle that shaped how we built smart features going forward.

Accelerating access to powerful map-based features

Only 20% of users were engaging with map-based features because getting an accurate map was too much effort. Auto Room Naming changed that: 97% of users understood their map after one run, and got there 7x faster.

Transforming a scientific model into a decision-making tool

CIBO Impact, a 0→1 product, turned complex agronomic simulations into clear, actionable data. As the founding designer, I shaped the experience, design system, and brand alongside scientists and engineers.
